.....Every year, an estimated 15 million babies are born preterm (before 37 completed weeks of gestation), and this number is increasing! Preterm babies are extremely vulnerable and health is at risk of deteriorating. It is vital to keep them warm in incubators. Nowadays, this is done in hospitals at specialised Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), where in parallel with keeping the babies warm, their vital signs − cardiac function (ECG), temperature and respiration − are constantly monitored. Monitoring is done through adhesive electrodes and wires attached to the electrodes and the hospital monitors. Notably, these electrodes need to be frequently replaced or repositioned in order to sustain reliable monitoring. Repositioning of the electrodes is a painful and stressful procedure for the child...
Sidarto and Fabio Bambang Oetomo founded Bambi Medical at the end of 2015, because they believe monitoring can be done differently.
The care for these babies is currently invasive and does not allow for sufficient skin to skin contact between mother and child, called kangaroo mother care.

Because of all these wires, it is not easy to remove the baby from the incubator to the mother’s breast. This so-called ‘kangarooing’ is of great importance for baby's development.

GETTING RID OF THE CONSTRICTING WIRES AND PROMOTING KANGAROO MOTHER CARE
Bambi Medical develops the Bambi Belt Solution, a wireless neonatal intensive care vital sign monitoring device. The Bambi Belt Solution will give much more freedom to the baby, because the wires of the current monitoring system will be gone. This will enable maximal skin to skin contact (Kangaroo Mother Care) between the baby and parents.
GETTING RID OF PAIN AND STRESS
The Bambi Belt Solution is a soft and skin-friendly device, oriented on baby's fragile skin protection. Babies will no longer face pain and stress that they experience when they are monitored with current adhesive electrodes.
Every time I want to take care of the baby or want to take the baby out of the incubator, there are too many wires and I always get in trouble with it. Parents are also complaining about wires. Sometimes the wires go around the finger or around the hand, become tight and are very uncomfortable for the baby. I wish we could monitor the baby without wires and patches on the chest. That is why the Bambi Belt Solution is very good, because you can get rid of those wires and cables, it will be easy for a parent to take care of the child. It will be very easy for me as well to take the baby out of the incubator and give him/her to the parents. And parents can also do this themselves.
